Lily Pads

Isn’t nature wonderful! I love to explore… anywhere. Other countries, my home base of beautiful Canada, and locally to some of the most magical, inspiring little spots not too far from where I live.

These vibrant water lilies took my breath away at the local eco fueled ‘Evergreen Brickworks’… a sanctuary in the middle of a cross section of highway in Toronto.

Once a thriving quarry and industrial site, it operated for nearly a hundred years and provided bricks in the construction of many landmark buildings in Toronto.

The quarry has been converted into a beautiful, natural city park. Evergreen is a national charity dedicated to restoring nature in urban environments.

The buildings have been tastefully restored and it is home to an environment focused on a green and cultural community featuring artisan markets outside throughout the summer and inside in the winter months along with a restaurant and eco based store.

My heart was captured by the beautiful and surprisingly large turtles that can be seen floating around in the naturalised ponds.
