‘Be brave little piglet’…. Winnie the Pooh.
I always loved Piglet best! He was so small and such a worried, sensitive little guy with a big heart.
Worry, fear and guilt can hold us back from taking brave steps, exploring and discovering new depths. Fear of failure can immobilise us and block us from taking that first small step to greatness.
Ive had times in my life when I’ve taken huge steps into the unknown and other times when I’ve played ‘small’ in fear of the unknown. For all of us it depends on the situation and of course, on our levels of self esteem and confidence in any given area. Being kind to ourselves in these scary moments is the best balm for any feelings of ‘not good enough’ or lack of inspiration.
Creating…in any area of our lives, offers us a chance to connect to our very unique intuitive essence, to venture into uncharted territory and push through any feelings of inadequacy or fear of final outcomes. I’ve always approached art with a sense of fun, excitement and great fascination. What can I create today? What can I do differently? Use it as playtime, an opportunity to be absorbed in the moment, in process and go for it! Let loose. Be brave, be curious and most of all, be YOU! Your art won’t be like anyone else’s, it is your perspective and you can be who you want to be… shine YOUR beautiful light.
When we take small brave steps on a regular basis, it becomes less scary, and more joy filled as we strengthen that creative muscle and learn to let go.
Seeking out new adventures in our creative expression will bring us into our hearts, that discovery and bravery will spill over into ‘Life’ and we will see possibilities everywhere that we can step into our brilliant light.
Many of us are finding new avenues and ways of being in this unprecedented time. It is an incredible oxymoron that during such a period of restriction and absolute uncertainty we can take steps forward and see and show more of our real selves. Be brave little Piglet… you never know what magic you might discover!
