Handmade boat from upcycled driftwood

I’ve been collecting flotsam and jetsam washed up on beaches for years... a tangle of potential, a creative opportunity thrown together by the power and unpredictability of the Ocean.

On a small windswept boardwalk covered with shells, seaweed and driftwood, this piece of broken lobster trap with twisted net still attached, reached out to me... and with great delight I envisioned a simple boat. Careful not to over embellish or disturb it’s natural state, I allowed the boat to direct me in its transformation...adding only a found  brass door plate to complete its beautiful rebirth.
