Hello, my name is Raine.

Creating and making is at my core. That, combined with a restless spirit and a curious nature inspires me to discover possibility, freedom and beauty around me. Join me as I share my journey!

Be a lighthouse

A beacon for all…

This is probably my most serious and deeply felt piece of writing that I have yet to put out into the world. I’m sure that most of us feel a deep concern and a sense of being trapped due to the fact that, along with other limiting conditions, the opportunity to travel has been restricted and is even considered dangerous.

I have hardly journaled my thoughts this past few months as we tumbled unknowingly into this chasm and I don’t want to ‘give space’ to the word or implications of the Coronavirus and the impact it has had on our world.

This is not denial. I am fully aware of the consequences and am particularly upset for our young children everywhere who now have this as part of their ‘normal’ experience. It isn’t!

It has spread fear, suspicion, separation and resulted in depression and other mental health issues for many of us.

I do wish to continue to shine a light on a world that now appears broken…to offer support, kindness, possibility and faith that we will get to the other side of this.

We have to know and believe this to be true…to stand in unison and declare our intention to make a stand for our freedom and for our future. The future of our children, Grandchildren and the future of this beautiful planet we call home, depends on it.

So… we can be that light, that joy and that hope… and we can travel in our minds and into our hearts and never stop dreaming, igniting our curiosity, imagining or feeling that we will find ourselves in incredible new places, culturally uplifting and gratifying experiences of sights, sounds, smells and absolute possibility once again.

If you have ever had the great fortune and motivation to travel, whether once, or many times in your life, you will know that feeling of freedom and potential that exists. The inevitable and numerous interactions with the people of a new culture, never before experienced, the evocative essence and spirit of a place and the long lasting memories that ensue.

Keep these moments alive and real, use your imagination to transport you back there and make a space in your heart for the possibility of another adventure, an opening, to gather up to your breast an armful of surprise and wonder where dreams can live, thrive and be birthed.

Can we be the lighthouse? Can we, instead of joining the energy of fear and disillusion, help to elevate that energy and our loved ones, to illuminate the positive, focus on the good stuff, the joy, beauty and love that is still there? …it is just covered over.

Kick off that top layer and expose the light, the purpose and the meaning of LOVE and TRUST. We can do this with each other and for each other.

Be the lighthouse!
